I live in CV34.
What sort of help can I get with school fees? < back to top
The discount on school fees available for each child
is calculated by an income means test. Our fee
calculator will
tell you approximately how much you would be expected
to contribute to annual school fees if your child’s
application is successful. Simply enter your gross
income to find out.
Your child will then be expected
to pass an assessment or entrance
exam, which for the senior schools
takes place in January, before a
place can be offered. Examples of
exam papers for Warwick School and
King’s
High are available here.
Help
is also available to meet the cost of uniforms and
educational school trips where necessary.
You
can call us confidentially on 01926 776400 to discuss the
opportunity further, or register your details on our contact
page and we will contact you.

If my child

a place by virtue of having a sibling already at one of the
schools. This applies to all of our pupils.
How many
children currently at the schools receive some form of
financial assistance? < back to
top
A large number of our pupils receive financial assistance.
For example, around 1 in 4 children who attend Warwick School
and 1 in 6 who attend King’s High School benefit from
some level of financial assistance.
Where
does the money come from? < back
to top
The Foundation is a beneficiary of the King Henry VIII Endowed
Trust, Warwick which was established in the 16th Century
to benefit the inhabitants of the town.
How can you
ensure my child won’t be treated differently
to other pupils? < back to top
The
atmosphere is a warm and caring one at all the schools.
The
application process is entirely confidential.
There
are many children who benefit from some level of financial
assistance.
The
schools work very hard at integrating children on discounted
places into school life so that the child can benefit from
everything that the schools have to offer.
Financial
assistance is also available towards to cost of uniforms
and educational school trips.
Why
not visit the schools and judge for yourself?
How many
discounted places are available? < back

Do I
have to pay to apply? < back to
top

What is the
pass level for standard entry and is there an equivalent
national curriculum level?
The
schools look to assess whether the pupil will be able to
cope with the standard and pace of work.
At

and above.

are covered in the exams and where can I get advice on revision? < back

who apply for entry at 11+ are required to take an exam which
consists of 3 papers:

English

After the
exam, what happens next? < back to top
All
candidates are interviewed.
Approximately
3 weeks after the exam you will receive a letter either offering
a place or explaining that the application has been unsuccessful.
The letter will also confirm the level of financial assistance
that is available to you.
What does
the discount include? < back to top
Financial
contribution to annual school fees.
Help
with the cost of uniforms and educational school trips where
necessary.
Will
the means test be repeated each year? < back
to top
Yes – the school will notify you when you are required
to provide new information about your income in preparation
for the next school year.
What other factors do you consider
when deciding whether an application qualifies for assistance?
We base our assessment on your net income for the most
recently finished tax year. Net income is
arrived at by taking your gross income and deducting any
income tax, national insurance and pension contributions
that you pay. We also give an allowance for each additional
dependent child that you have. In certain cases where an
applicant has substantial net assets we will add in
a notional income based on the excess of their net asset
value over £250,000. If your circumstances have changed
since your last tax return was completed you should tell
us as it may be possible to assess you on a current tax
year basis.
What
happens if my salary takes me over the limit by a small
amount in the second or subsequent years after my child
enters the school – apparently
enough to disqualify my child from the financial assistance
but not enough to pay the fees? < back
to top
The assistance is provided on a graduated scale, therefore
small changes in your income will have a correspondingly
small effect on the assistance you receive.
Does
the financial assistance last for the entire school career
of the child? < back to top
Yes – subject to good conduct normally expected of
a pupil and an annual means test re-assessment.
My child has
never had any contact with an independent school – will
we have the opportunity to visit the school to see if s/he
likes it before applying? < back to top
